Religion bemoans the loss of the Garden of Eden. That paradise where all lived in peace, harmony, balance and every life form felt safe. Boo hoo.
Meanwhile, religion supports the continuing destruction of the millions of square miles of Eden still in existence. Every ecosystem untouched by humans is Eden. The indigenous people of the Amazon have lived in paradise, sharing in its balance of life, for thousands of years. Until dangerous, violent men came with huge machines that grab 1000 year old trees in its claw and slices them from the land with a giant spinning knife with hundreds of razor-sharp teeth. And all I can do is grab what I can carry and run.
Imagine what that must be like. You're an intelligent, thinking human who has family, community and culture. Who was born in this jungle forest and feels a part of it. Your home. Where live the people you love.
And one day, giant machines come and start destroying everything you know, that your grandparents and ancestors have known. So rapidly. How frightening. To pack up your baby and carry whatever you can, helping the elderly and lame. Hoping the communities deeper into the jungle will allow you to stay.
The plants and trees and creatures too slow all killed by the men and their heavy machines. Those that can run, crawl, fly also go deeper into the remaining forest, where they intrude into other creatures' territory. Upsetting the balance that took thousands of years to develop.
Without understanding why men destroyed your home, your life has suddenly been taken from you and you're homeless, a refugee on unfamiliar land. Struggling to find enough food and adequate shelter. Having left your food stores and your tools when you ran. You're are a victim of war that you didn't even know about. The war waged by capitalism and kings against paradise and the people who call it home.
Boo hoo. Expelled from the Garden. They weren't expelled. They destroyed it. And they're still doing it. While we sit by. Tic Tok. Soon it will all be gone. Then the prophesy of the Bible will come true with all finality. There will truly be no left.
